Supervisor - 2nd shift for Sheet Metal Fabrication

Monday through Friday 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., some overtime required

 

This position requires Sheet Metal Manufacturing and Job Shop experience in a fast paced environment. 

The Supervisor is responsible for managing all 2nd shift production personnel, with the goal of efficient, accurate production in a short lead time.  Experience with these operations is helpful:  CNC Turret Punch Press, CNC Laser, CNC Press Brake, Welding, CNC Machining, & Assembly.  We have a terrific team of skilled and motivated sheet metal mechanics, machine operators, welders, and laborers, that will only continue to grow and get better with the direction of a great Supervisor.

Position reports directly to the daytime Production Supervisor and will include responsibilities in production control, inventory, shipping, and customer service, and will work closely with personnel in manufacturing and engineering.  This is a multiple task, deadline based environment with a requirement for speed and accuracy, therefore flexibility is necessary to maintain multiple projects as well as re-evaluate and change priorities quickly and efficiently.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of daytime Production Supervisor, direct workflow to coincide with customer demands.  Follow up during shift to ensure that instructions are followed, and deadlines will be met.  Adjust the workflow as priorities may require.
  • Directs flow of materials to the proper machine or department, and through to completion.
  • Daily communication with Production Supervisor, area Lead personnel, and possibly customer(s), in person, via phone and email.
  • Represent our company in a professional and positive manner.
  • Discuss questions, problems and discrepancies with production employees or engineers; resolve problems and questions.
  • Monitor production – locate and note location of multiple work orders and projects on the plant floor, using ipad or tablet. 
  • Enforce quality standards.
  • Supervise work force of approximately 12 production employees.
  • Evaluate and counsel production personnel.
  • Review, understand, and update reports using Excel and manufacturing software.
  • Perform regular inventory of finished products and products in process.
  • Assist in preparing finished goods for shipping as needed.  Supervise or participate in loading and unloading delivery trucks on occasion.
  • Other miscellaneous projects or duties as assigned.

 

Requirements for this Position:

  • Sheet Metal Manufacturing with CNC equipment, and Job Shop experience in a fast paced environment.   
  • Experience supervising manufacturing personnel.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail.​
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprint​s.
  • Basic Math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  Ability to understand and convert decimals and fractions.  Understand English and Metric Measurements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively.​
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.​
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to re-evaluate and change priorities quickly and efficiently as needed.​
  • Computer knowledge and skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook and Word with the ability to understand and update simple spreadsheets.​
  • Team oriented, self-motivated and results oriented.​
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent attendance, dependability and maturity.​
  • Must be able to work daily or weekend overtime when deadlines require.​
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency.​
  • Must be able to work independently.​
  • Physical requirements:   Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, lift, push, pull up to 25 lbs.  Work involves periods of standing, walking, sitting, use of pallet jack, in a non-temperature controlled environment – plant is not air conditioned and becomes very hot in the spring, summer and fall.
